July 4th at Whitefish City Beach
Whitefish, MT – The City of Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for another fun-filled 4th of July celebration at Whitefish City Beach, featuring food vendors and a spectacular fireworks display over Whitefish Lake.
Food vendors offering shaved ice, mini-doughnuts, ice cream, corndogs, and barbecue will open in the early evening and stay until the fireworks begin. To accommodate vendor setup, the main City Beach parking lot will be closed all day, and parking will be limited throughout the area. Traffic control will be in place by 7:00 p.m. Roads near the beach may be restricted, and the boat launch and Decontamination Station at City Beach will also close at 7:00 p.m. (State Park launch closes at 9:00 p.m.). Decontamination is required prior to launching boats with ballast tanks or bags into Whitefish Lake.
Presented by the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, the fireworks show—named one of The New York Times’ Top 10 in the nation—will launch from a floating barge around 10:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to walk or bike to the beach to help ease congestion. A free shuttle, provided by Rocky Mountain Transportation, will run between the O’Shaughnessy Center and City Beach from 7:00–11:00 p.m.
Please remember: No dogs, alcohol, personal fireworks, or glass containers are allowed at City Beach. Help us keep the beach clean by packing out your trash.
Each year, the Chamber relies on generous support from the community to fund the show, insurance, shuttles, promotion, and more—totaling over $20,000. Donations can be made through the Whitefish Chamber or Whitefish Community Foundation.
