Artist Reception: Amy Brakeman Livezey "Tender & Tenacious"

We are honored to host Helena artist Amy Brakeman Livezey in our Whitefish gallery for the month of June! Her work combines figures from historic photographs with contemporary expressionist fields of shape and color.

For this exhibition, reference materials were drawn from diverse sources—from a friend’s ancestral photo collection, shared over his dining room table, to the carefully preserved archives of the Northwest Montana History Museum. Each piece shares themes of women navigating turbulence, women gathering, and quiet reminders of gentler pursuits all in an expressive abstract realism that embodies a love for the human form, portraiture, and rural life.
