Citizens of Whitefish are invited to a community forum at Muldown Elementary School on Thursday, December 1 at 7 p.m. to discuss the challenges and opportunities for significant future upgrades needed at the school. Architects will discuss three main options, which range from only addressing the most serious needs, to using the opportunity to re-create a facility that will better enhance innovative learning and reduce overcrowding.

Dec 3    MEMBERS' SALON, AN ANNUAL EXHIBIT OF ARTIST MEMBER WORKS

Voting in the Peoples’ Choice Awards begins November 10, and everyone is invited to come in and vote for their favorite work.  Each year, the Hockaday awards $250 to the First Place winner, $100 for Second, and $50 for Third Place honors.  Many of the pieces are offered for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Museum.  The 2016 Salon will feature the works of over 80 Hockaday artist members. 
 
The reception for the Members’ Salon will be held concurrently with the opening for Karen Leigh’s retrospective, Journey: A Painter’s Life, on Thursday, November 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

“When the Night Comes” is an annual fundraising event for Sparrow’s Nest of Northwest Montana. Across the country, similar events occur annually when community members sleep out for an evening to experience homelessness, raise awareness, and help eliminate the cause. “When the Night Comes” allows participants to collect pledges/donations in exchange for their sleeping outside for the night. Dec 31    New Years Eve Rockin' Rail Jam & Torchlight Parade @ Ski Resort

Up to 60 skiers and snowboarders will hit rails and boxes on a custom built rail jam venue. It is super fun to watch and even more fun to compete in. Compete for a $1000 Cash purse in Open Class Skier & Snowboarder Categories! Great prizes for amateur category winners and a raffle for everyone else! Cap off the night with a spectacular torchlight parade, fireworks show, and live music by Brent Jameson and the Sordid Seeds.

Complete Schedule:

5:15 – 5:30 pm: Skier Jam (Registration info, click here)
5:30 – 5:45 pm: Dash for Cash – Open to anyone looking to make a buck! We hold both a kids’ dash and an adults’ dash. Run a wacky obstacle course for your chance to win $100!
5:45 – 6 pm: Snowboard Jam (Registration info, click here)
6 – 6:15 pm: Dash for Cash
6:15 – 6:30 pm: Finals – top skiers and snowboarders from each division compete
6:30 – 6:45 pm: Torchlight Parade and Fireworks
6:45 – 7 pm: Awards
6:45 – 10 pm: Brent Jameson and the Sordid Seeds at Ed & Mully’s
9:30 – midnight: Live music at the Bierstube (don’t forget to pre-purchase your tickets to the Bierstube… it will sell out! 862-1993)

On-Snow Bar: Hosted by Ed & Mully’s. Sip your cocoa, mulled wine or cold beer and never have to leave the Rail Jam and parade venue.

All New Year’s Eve events take place on Ed’s Run or inside Ed & Mully’s.

Torchlight Parade Registration: Register at the bottom of Chair 2 by 5:45 pm. You must be an intermediate or expert skier or snowboarder to participate.
