Sep 1    Upon My Return by Kerry Nagel - Whitefish Pottery/Stillwater Gallery July Show
Paper artist Kerry Nagel is marking a turning point in her life by returning to Whitefish and producing an intriguing collection of work, both in theme and in materials. Kerry is exploring themes of shelter, protection, and emergence; her use of non-traditional materials, ranging from seaweed and wasp paper, to bones and feathers makes the viewer question what has been fabricated by the artist, and how much of the material has been created by nature. This exhibition is sure to provoke thoughtful dialogue and keep you thinking about the work long after leaving the gallery. Opening reception Thursday, September 1st 6-9pm in conjunction with Whitefish Gallery Nights, at Whitefish Pottery/Stillwater Gallery 240 Central Ave. The show will run through the month of September.

Sep 10 - Sep 11    Montana Dragon Boat Festival

Montana Dragon Boat Festival promises two days of excitement, pageantry and family fun, Sept. 10 & 11th, 2016.

Held at the Lakeside Volunteer Park, the Montana Dragon Boat Festival has quickly become one of this region's most anticipated signature events. The 2012 festival drew 4,200 participants and spectators and was named the Montana Tourism Event of the Year.

The ancient sport of dragon boat racing traces its roots to China, where teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steersman race in colorful, 46-foot dragon boats. Today it is the eighth fastest-growing sport in the world.

It also has a unique following among breast cancer survivors, who find inspiration in the special team-building qualities of the sport.
