Free and open to the public, the reception will run from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gallery on the lower level of the Arts and Technology Building. Light refreshments will be served. Li’s oil painting technique is grounded in the varnish mediums of the Dutch Golden Age. The New York Times has described her work as “straightforwardly beautiful” with “an element of the weird.” Her work has been noted for its color and luminosity, its imaginative and evocative content and the high quality of technique. Li studied painting for 12 years at the Art Students League of New York under distinguished realist painters Harvey Dinnerstein and Frank Mason. She has been painting professionally since 1990. Whitefish welcomes back Montana made folk band The Hasslers for a live performance at The Remington on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Support from Seattle's Charlie & the Rays Since forming in 2012, The Hasslers have been called a lot of things. Genuine, hard-hitting MT folk-rock, erudite pool hall rock, folk-rockicana, and once even latin emo. What they really are is a bunch of kids from Montana with a knack for writing catchy tunes. The Hasslers are a 5-piece Folk-Rock/Americana band from Missoula, Montana, currently based out of Seattle, Washington. They have spent the past 2 years in Seattle, playing shows all around the PNW and beyond, including a recent main stage performance at Northwest Folklife Festival, a hometown opening gig for their hero, Robert Earl Keen, at Missoula’s historic Wilma Theatre, the inaugural Upstream Music Fest, and a slew of headlining shows at local venues, breweries, and local events, both big and small.

Apr 10    Pete Metzelaar, A Hidden Child of the Holocaust Tells His Story
"Holocaust survivor Pete Metzelaar will share his story at a lecture at Flathead Valley Community College on April 10. Free and open to the public, the lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in the large community room of the Arts and Technology Building. Metzelaar was 7 years old when the Nazis stormed his family’s home in Amsterdam and seized everyone except for him and his mother. The Dutch Underground contacted Klaus and Roefina Post on the Metzelaars’ behalf seeking a place of refuge. The Posts risked their lives to shelter Metzelaar and his mother on their small farm in northern Holland, where they remained in hiding for more than two years before having to move to a new secure location. Sponsored by FVCC, the Holocaust Center for Humanity, and the Glacier Jewish Community, Metzelaar’s presentation will bring the Holocaust to life and encourage audience members to connect lessons of the past with contemporary issues such as hate crimes, bullying and genocide."

Apr 24    Are You Paying Your Employees Correctly?
Wages and hours worked are two of the most important employment related concerns for many workers. Federal and state laws concerning wages have evolved over the years and the rules can be difficult to understand. Wage and hour laws are meant to protect employees. Our speaker will give real-world examples of wage and hour challenges and how you can solve them. You will be provided vital information to avoid costly mistakes: • Not paying the correct minimum wage • Not paying overtime or improperly classifying exempt employees • Making employees work "off-the-clock" and not paying them for it • Deducting for wages paid in goods, such as meals or food Presenter: Windy Knutson, Compliance Specialist, Montana Wage & Hour Unit, Labor Standards Bureau, has been with the Department of Labor and Industry for over 21 years. She has worked in the Wage and Hour Unit for over 13 years, four years as an auditor for Uninsured Employer’s Fund (employers not covered with work comp), two years with the Contractor Registration Program and Independent Contractor Central Unit and two years with Unemployment Insurance Division. Apr 27 - May 6    A Fox on the Fairway by Ken Ludwig
A tribute from Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo) to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, A Fox On the Fairway takes audiences on a hilarious romp, which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it's a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers' classics. A charmingly madcap adventure about love, life, and man's eternal love affair with...golf. Tickets available at: the Kalispell Grand Hotel, the Pocketstone Cafe, & Bigfork Drug... or at the door. Or call 406-518-1170 CAUTION: MATURE CONTENT. Not recommended for children under 12.
