About Us

Whitefish Community Foundation is the Flathead Valley's home for charitable giving. We bring together donors and nonprofits to cultivate a passion for giving and improve the quality of life for everyone in the Flathead Valley. Since 2000, the Foundation has granted over $100 million to champion health and education initiatives, address critical issues such as hunger and youth homelessness, and protect the Flathead's wildlife and surrounding landscapes. Our work is possible thanks to the Circle of Giving - the core group of donors who give $5,000 or more annually to support the Foundation's grant programs, as well as the many individuals and families who establish Charitable Gift Funds at Whitefish Community Foundation.

Whitefish Community Foundation specializes in these donor and nonprofit services:
Charitable Gift Funds, including Donor Advised Funds, Designated Funds, and Endowment Funds
Legacy Planning
Montana Endowment Tax Credit
Grant Programs
Scholarship Programs
Nonprofit Development

Whitefish Community Foundation organizes and manages the annual Great Fish Community Challenge free of charge for participating Flathead Valley nonprofits. The Challenge has raised over $43 million for more than 100 local nonprofits since 2015. At the conclusion of the Challenge, the Foundation awards a percentage match on $25,000 raised by each nonprofit. The Great Fish Match is funded by the Circle of Giving and other donors who give directly to the Match during the Challenge.
